Everybody knows Japanese beauty products are the better and more cool than western ones. Here are a few examples:
I found these hair dye packages at Osaka Supermarket the other day and was blown away at how different the branding is from similar western products. Instead of simply showing a sultry model sporting a “The Rachel” or other similar layered 90s hairstyle, like most western brands of hair dye, these show princesses, cute schoolgirls, and women sporting pope hats made of foam. Small details in the packaging like beading around call-outs and tiny images of baked goods help give the products their poppy, enjoyable feel. They’re clearly more fun to use than “Herbal Essences”, whatever that means.
